Legislative Candidate Qualifies for State Election Grant

Submitted by Renee LaMark Muir

(March 27, 2024) — Renee LaMark Muir, the declared Democratic candidate for state representative for the 36th Assembly District (Chester, Deep River, Essex and Haddam) has qualified for the state’s Citizens Election Program (CEP), Connecticut’s clean election funding program.

Candidates are required to meet two thresholds to qualify for CEP: (1) collect donations from at least 150 residents of the district and (2) raise $5,800 in donations. LaMark Muir met the qualification thresholds well ahead of the state’s August 2024 deadline.

The theme of LaMark Muir’s campaign is to make sure state government is a positive force for the good of all residents and the state. She believes this is especially important when many criticize those who work in the public sector, devaluing dedicated public servants who work hard in all levels of government and state agencies.

The next step in the campaign is to secure the Democratic Party endorsement at the convention in May 2024. LaMark Muir currently has the support of the local Democratic Town Committees in Chester, Deep River, Essex, and Haddam.
