(May 3, 2024) — On Sunday, April 28, 2024, scouts from Troop 18-Killingworth volunteered at the Helping Hands Food Pantry.
Scouts fixed and replaced shelving that was sagging and replaced it with new, stronger wood. The new shelving will now hold the weight of donated items. Thank you to Ring’s End in Madison, which helped with lumber. Additionally, a former scout attended and painted the sign for the pantry.
The Killingworth Women’s Organization operates Helping Hands Food Pantry, located at the Killingworth Circle, 242 Route 81. The pantry operates on Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Visit kwoct.org for more information, or call 860-663-1765 ext. 401.
Troop 18 is no stranger to helping the pantry. In November 2018, the Troop built and installed the food donation box outside the building. The box is shared by Helping Hands Food Pantry and the HK Backpack program for donation drop offs. Non-perishable food items are welcome anytime.
