(November 19, 2022) — Stephen Watson of Killingworth, owner of the Someday Farm martial arts school, received the Whistlekick (cq) Emissary of the Arts Award in a ceremony November 12, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Regional School in Keene, New Hampshire.
The award is given to those who have contributed to both the arts and the community, and who demonstrate the positive qualities of martial arts and martial artists in ways not directly tied to martial arts. It was presented jointly by Whistlekick (cq), a martial arts equipment supplier, podcaster, and event planner, and MartialJournal.com, an online magazine.
The organizations bestowing the awards issued the following statement on Watson: “Stephen is an unquestionable emissary of the martial arts. He will teach anyone, anywhere, and works tirelessly to share all that is good about martial arts and to spread good cheer to all members of the martial arts community. Stephen lives the arts and he embodies what a true martial artist should be and what the martial arts are all about. His interaction with his local community as well as the martial arts community at large is unparalleled.
Presenters noted that Watson made the trip to receive the award and teach during a special training day held before the presentation even though he is fighting stage 4 cancer.
Someday Farm is a Killingworth landmark and retreat, known for its expansive green grounds, horse paddocks and wildlife. Courses are offered online and in group classes as well as private and semi-private instruction. Courses include Tai Chi Chuan, Meditation, Self Defense and Taoist Philosophy.
