Killingworth Lions Benefit Concert Series Continues

Submitted by Claudette LaGasse.

On the evening of Sunday, March 27, 2022 the Killingworth Lions with assistance from the Killingworth Historical Society (KHS), will be offering our 5th benefit concert at the HKIMS Performance Hall. This edition is a co-bill featuring two internationally-known bands with Orleans along with Aztec Two-Step. KHS is planning a large barn project behind its headquarters at the Parmelee Farm Homestead. Roughly 50% of the funding is in place and the Killingworth Lions are stepping up, with your assistance, to help them reach their goal by producing another concert. Previous Lions Benefit Concerts included Judy Collins, Gordon Lightfoot, Richie Havens & Arlo Guthrie. TICKETS are Available Now at www.killingworthlions.org

Orleans

Orleans is best known as the Pop/Rock band that brought you the classic 70s hits Still The One, Dance With Me and Love Takes Time. Now in its 49th year, Orleans has produced a body of work spanning 16+ albums and 4 DVDs. The band continues to be in great demand for live performances, as they have been for almost 5 decades. Co-founders Lance Hoppen and John Hall, along with long-standing member Lane Hoppen and relative newcomers Brady Spencer and Tom Lane deliver Orleans’ music with power, class and integrity to appreciative audiences everywhere. John Hall, whose songs have been recorded by Janis Joplin, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Chet Atkins, Bobby McFerrin and others released a new solo album “Reclaiming My Time” in May of 2021.

Aztec Two Step

Aztec Two-Step original founding member, principal singer and songwriter Rex Fowler has expanded the group’s musical legacy with his new 5-piece ensemble Aztec Two-Step 2.0 following partner Neal Shulman’s retirement. With 2- and 3-part harmonies, instrumental arrangements, and Dodie Pettit’s dazzling guitar work, they’ve recaptured the feeling of Rex & Neal’s original studio recordings, putting a fresh spin on it. Performing favorite ATS classics and forgotten gems, they’ve added some new compositions…and the stage patter is still as engaging, fun, and poignant as ever.

NOTE: We may encounter some level of Covid-19 protocols still in place, including the possibility of wearing masks as well as having your temperature taken upon entry.

Tickets will be assigned at the time of purchase to ‘Best Available’ in section.
