Submitted by Tammy Eustis, Asst. Dir., KLA.

Extended Evening Hours Start in June at the Library

Killingworth Library is excited to announce that the library will be open until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting June 2, 2022. Hours for the remaining days of the week remain unchanged: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.; Saturdays 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Summer Reading Kickoff

The Killingworth Library’s summer reading program kicks off on Saturday, June 25, 2022 with the return of Life-Sized Candyland Under the Sea! Our summer-long activities center around the Oceans of Possibilities theme and will also feature STEM/STEAM programs with a Pirate theme. Details will appear soon on our website’s calendar – visit killingworthlibrary.org for information and registration forms. The 2022 summer activities are made possible by grants from the Community Foundation of Middlesex County, the Peach Pit Foundation, and the CT State Library’s Summer Enrichment Grant in cooperation with the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Minecraft Mania at Killingworth Library

Mark your calendars for Killingworth Library’s first-ever online Minecraft program on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. Open to children in grades 2 through 5, participants will complete a series of quests, activities, and challenges within the game in small groups. Along the way, all skill levels of Minecraft will gain new knowledge, tips, & tricks! The library will be offering light refreshments and can provide 5 laptops for participants who may not have their own smart phone, tablet or laptop. A separate account or experience is not required.

This program is being held in cooperation with Deep River Public Library. Space is limited, so please register through the Calendar on the library website – killingworthlibrary.org – or contact the library at 860-663-2000.

“With My Own Two Hands” Kindness Initiative Continues

Killingworth Library patrons are invited to participate in the “With My Own Two Hands” project – identify a kind act that you pledge to do and place the paper entry in our special mailbox; all participants will be entered in our monthly drawing for a prize. Our first winner is a 4-year-old Killingworth resident, who received a gift certificate to Andie’s Cookies! The Kindness Initiative will run through the month of August, so think about how you can make the world a better place. The library thanks the Peach Pit Foundation and the Community Foundation of Middlesex Foundation for sponsoring this activity.
