The annual parade will take a new route this year, because of roadwork planned for Route 80. The parade will step off from Killingworth Elementary School at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 27, 2019, and will head south to the Killingworth Congregational Church. A short service will be held on the front lawn, weather permitting. If your group would like to participate, be at KES by 8:30 a.m. Also this year, the Killingworth Lions Club will be serving refreshments to parade participants after the service.
The ceremony includes a reading of the winning poem on the subject of Memorial Day by an HKMS seventh-grade student and a military flyover, among other traditions.
Since we sadly lost Rick Albrecht, who was impresario of the parade for so many years, the Killingworth Lions Club has taken over management of the parade. If you would like to be in the parade this year, please contact Charlie Smith by May 20th at csmith0701@comcast.net or 860-663-1583.
