(February 9, 2023)–This month, Haddam Volunteer Fire Company welcomes Larry Graves, Jr.— a former HVFC Chief—back into its membership.
Larry initially joined the company in July 1988 and took Life Membership in September 2004. During his 16-year tenure, Larry served as recording secretary, captain, second and third assistant chief, and chief from 1998 to 2001.
“I wanted to come back and continue serving our town,” he said. “My grandparents and families have lived in the area for well over 150 years.”
Larry was sworn into the company on Feb. 6 by HVFC Chief Sam Baber. Chief Baber, who has served with the company since 2000, was sworn into the company when Larry was the active chief. Larry will serve as a Probationary Member for three months.
“We’re really thrilled that Larry made the decision to return to the company,” Chief Baber said. “He has a plethora of skills and knowledge, and he’ll be a true asset to Haddam Fire and the Town of Haddam.”
