At 6:00 a.m. Haddam Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to the area of 1773 Saybrook Road. A driver heading northbound on Saybrook Road struck a guard rail and rock ledge before coming to a stop in the middle of the road.
Crews were advised to be cautious of black ice in the area.
Firefighters closed both lanes of Saybrook Road and rerouted traffic to Dudley Clark Road as they worked to remove the vehicle, clean up debris, and apply absorbent material to a fluid spill.
As temperatures begin to fall below freezing, Haddam Volunteer Fire Company reminds residents to heed caution when driving as roads may be icy and slippery this time of year.
