Haddam Volunteer Fire Company, along with multiple mutual aid companies, responded to a structure fire at 10:40 a.m. today on Saybrook Road in Higganum.
Middletown’s South Fire District was first to arrive on scene and reported smoke coming from the eaves of a 2.5-story wood-frame home, and fire from the structure’s back-left exterior.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and checked to make sure the fire had not spread into the interior walls of the home.
Crews from Haddam, Durham, Haddam Neck, Killingworth, Chester, East Haddam, and Middletown also provided additional engines, tankers, and a rapid intervention team.
The cause of the incident is under investigation by the Haddam Fire Marshal.
