(July 3, 2023)—Congratulations to Haddam Volunteer Fire Company Junior Division members Max Selmer and Will Stolen! Max and Will recently completed the Introduction to the Fire Service class hosted by the Connecticut Fire Academy from June 26 to July 1, 2023.
Max and Will joined thirty other high school-aged participants across the state for the week-long program. The session immerses the students in the mission, culture, and skill sets of the fire service while emphasizing individual empowerment and teamwork. Students participate in physical fitness training, learn in a classroom setting, and compete in team-based activities. At the end of the session, participants demonstrate the skills they have learned by responding to a simulated multi-story building fire for a live audience.
