(May 23, 2024) — The Haddam-Killingworth High School Track team traveled to Portland on a brutally hot day for the Shoreline Conference Championship meet on May 22, 2024.
The meet ran around nine hours and took a full team effort for the Boys to claim the victory. Their only 1st places were in the 4×400 and 4×800 relays. But all the 2nd, 3rd and 4th places accumulated points for the team.
With one event left, HK had only a one point lead over Cromwell, but thanks to Luke Staskelunas hitting a new PR in the triple jump and beating the Cromwell jumper by a foot, he sealed the deal for the Cougars.
The HK Girls team had a strong fifth place finish, with Mariella Fulcher taking first place in both the 200 meter and 400 meter races. HK is now looking forward to the Class S State Championships next week. Good luck, Cougars!
