Boys & Girls Track 2023: Both HKHS Teams Win Two More Meets and Stay Undefeated

(April 27, 2023) — On April 25, 2023, the Haddam Killingworth boys and girls track teams continued their dual season as they hosted a tri meet against East Hampton and North Branford.

Both the boys and girls teams came away with two victories on the day as the boys defeated North Branford by a score of 105-39 and East Hampton by a score of 86-64 to improve their dual meet season record to 4-0.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Alex Lara 400 (52.3), Daniel McCourt 800 (2:13), Jack Cozean 1600 (4:53), Luke Hedges 3200 (10:33), John Panzera 110 hurdles (17.0) 300 hurdles (46.0) and high jump (5’10”), Tim Cavrell shot put (38’8.5″) and javelin (126’0″) and Ryan Rafferty triple jump (32’8″).  The boys 4×800 and 4×400 relays were also victorious on the afternoon.

The H-K girls team also went 2-0 on the day to continue their dual meet season undefeated as they defeated North Branford by a score of 133-17 and beat East Hampton 78-72.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Mariella Fulcher 100 (13.2) and 200 (26.5), Jayani Bennett 100 hurdles (17.2), Isabel Berardino 800 (2:32) and 1600 (5:51), Leah Chester long jump (15’0″) and triple jump (33’4″).  The girls also swept all 3 relays and as they won the 4×800. 4×100 and 4×400 relays to contribute valuable team points.

 The track teams will next be in action on Tuesday May 2, 2023 as they travel to Old Lyme to compete in a tri meet against Lyme-Old Lyme and Westbrook.
