(May 12, 2023) — On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, the Haddam Killingworth Boys and Girls track teams competed in a tri-meet against Valley Regional and Morgan.  Both teams came away with two victories on the day, as the boys defeated Valley by a score of 114-31 and Morgan by a score of 118–33 to stay undefeated and improve their dual meet season record to 8-0.
Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Alex Lara 400 (53.3), Jack Cozean 1600 (4:43), Daniel McCourt 3200 (10:17), Matt Lara 800 (2:07.8), John Panzera 110 hurdles (16.2) 300 hurdles (44.0) and high jump (6’0″), Kevin Fisher discus (105′), Ryan Ruggerio pole vault (10’0″) and Ryan Rafferty triple jump (38’1″). The boys 4×800, 4×100 and 4×400 relays were also victorious on the afternoon.
The HK Girls team also went 2-0 on the day to continue their dual meet season undefeated, as they defeated Valley by a score of 96-53 and beat Morgan 95-51. Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Mariella Fulcher 100 (12.9), Isabel Berardino 400 (67.7), Grace Mitchell 800 (2:33), Keira Sehl-Albert 3200 (13:17), Jayani Bennett 100 hurdles (17.5), Leah Chester triple jump (33’4″), Ana Garcia high jump (4’6″). The girls also swept all 3 relays and as they won the 4×800. 4×100 and 4×400 relays to contribute valuable team points.
The track teams will next be in action on Monday May 15, 2023, as they travel to Cromwell to wrap up their dual meet season.
