(March 16, 2024) — Connecticut Rivers Council Pack 40 Scouts of Higganum visited Haddam Volunteer Fire Company on March 9, 2024.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                The Scouts toured Engine 6-13, Rescue 5-13, and the UTV, and learned about the various tools on each apparatus.
Firefighters demonstrated how they use a thermal imaging camera, gas meter, stabilizing cribbing, and Hurst rescue equipment.
They showed the Scouts what firefighters wear on a fire scene, including bunker gear, boots, gloves, a helmet, face mask and air pack. Scouts also learned how to extinguish a fire using a simulated charged hose line. HVFC Lieutenant Kris Proto, Captain Jeff Doskos, and Fire Police Ken Vallera coordinated the Scouts’ visit.
