NOV 2024 Event Calendar Updated
Veterans Day – The Senior Center will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2024 in honor of Veterans Day. We honor and thank those who have served and continue to serve our country. We are deeply indebted to you for your service. Thank you.
Tuesday November 12, 2024 – Due to a conflict on Thursday, November 14th, (more on that in a minute), we will have our weekly Mobility class at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This is a great class taught by Jennifer Gawlak of Fitness with Jennifer that focuses on strength, flexibility and mobility. Do not be intimidated by the description. This class is for EVERYONE at ALL LEVELS of fitness; do what you can do, and rest when you need to. Mobility as we age is extremely important and this class is a good way to begin incorporating it. And it’s FUN!
Thursday November 14, 2024 – We will be having our Thanksgiving Holiday Dinner catered by The Riverhouse here in Haddam. If you went last year, you know this is an event not to be missed! Space for this event is limited, so please call or stop by the Senior Center to sign up by Friday November 8, 2024 at 12:00 Noon. There is no charge for this event, however donations are welcome.
Friday, November 15, 2024 – We will have MILE here for our re-scheduled presentation at 11:00 a.m. Come and hear what MILE is all about AND stay to have lunch afterward! We have been able to coordinate with our partners at Senior Resources and the Kitchen at Futures, Inc. to provide lunch on this Friday only. Lunch does require advanced reservations (and an updated Form 5 if you’re new to the Center) so please sign up by Noon on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
Monday November 18, 2024 – Join us and Club 60 for a joint program at the Community Center called “Veterans Benefits 2024/2025.” Sherri Vogt of Hartford Healthcare Center for Healthy Aging will present the latest information regarding benefits for veterans and their spouses. She will share important information regarding eligibility care at home for veterans and their families. This presentation will take place as part of the Club 60 meeting at 1:00 p.m., and includes guided tours of the Veterans Museum next door after Sherri’s presentation.
Wednesday November 20, 2024 – We have our next bus trip to the Carousel Museum in Bristol. We will leave the former Haddam Elementary School parking lot promptly at 9:30 a.m. After a tour of the museum, we will enjoy boxed lunches in the museum. The cost for this trip, $18, is for the lunch and is due prior to Wednesday November 20th. Please contact the Senior Center to reserve your seat (there are eleven spots available) by November 13, 2024.
Friday November 22, 2024 – Lunch & Chat “Your RX Costs Are Going UP,” hosted and facilitated by Nutmeg Pharmacy. This is another important information session on the role of Pharmacy Benefit Managers and how they impact your drug costs. Sign-up is required, but there is no limit to how many can attend.
Monday November 25, 2024 – Our monthly Pizza and a Movie will be the movie, “Captain Phillips,” starring Tom Hanks. You may remember this true story from a few years ago, where Captain Richard Phillips (Hanks) and his crew are carrying freight around the Horn of Africa when four Somali pirates forcibly take over their ship, the MV Maersk Alabama. Pizza will be served at 12:00 Noon and the movie will start immediately after. Please call or stop by the Senior Center to reserve your seat.
That brings us right to Thanksgiving on November 28, 2024! The Senior Center will once again be closed on Thursday, November 28th and Friday November 29th for the holiday. We hope you enjoy time with family and friends!
Thanks all for your continued support of the programs offered. If there is something you want to see at the Senior Center, please let us know. We also welcome your feedback, good and bad! We want to offer programs that matter to you, so your feedback matters.
Finally, don’t forget to vote on Tuesday November 5, 2024. Early voting is available as well. Check out the Town of Haddam website for hours.
