Haddam Republicans Endorse Candidates for November Town Election

Endorsed Haddam Republican Candidates

On Tuesday July 16, 2019 at the Town Hall Haddam Republicans met in Caucus to endorse their slate of candidates for the November 5, 2019 municipal election.   Anthony Giamei and Lori Maggi were elected as Chairman and Secretary of the Caucus.

Candidates were considered separately for each office.  The Chairman of the Republican Nominating Committee William Bowles first placed in nomination the name of the town committee recommended candidate for each position and then the Mr. Giamei asked for nominations from the floor in each case.

Bob McGarryFor First Selectman the Caucus endorsed Robert McGarry of Haddam Neck.  Mr. McGarry, a retired Commander from the U. S. Coast Guard, presently serves on Haddam’s Board of Finance and is a volunteer and Fire Chief of the Haddam Neck Fire Department.  McGarry and his wife Vivien are small business owners of the Cold Goats Farm.  Bob McGarry expressed his appreciation to Republicans for their endorsement and for giving him the opportunity to lead the town on the path of progress.

McGarry toured the businesses in the Tylerville section of town yesterday.   Several times he was told that bringing potable water to Tylerville was a monumental accomplishment of the Milardo administration and was asked about his goals for the town.   He explained that his goal at the moment is to get people to work together for the benefit of the town and his purpose in visiting the businesses was to learn about the issues that concerned them.

For Selectman, the Caucus endorsed Kate Anderson and Chip Frey.

Anderson is Chairman of Haddam’s Economic Development Commission, and serves on the Infrastructure Committee and the Charter Revision Committee.  Frey has served on the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Kristin Battistoni was endorsed for Tax Collector, now a four year term, as a result of a recent change in the Town Charter.

Marc Adelberg and David Challenger were endorsed for six year terms on the Board of Finance.  Wayne Rutty and Prem Aithal were endorsed for the alternate seats on the BOF.

For Board of Assessment Appeals David Beckman was endorsed.

For four year terms on the Planning and Zoning Commission Jamin Laurenza, Steve Bull and Dan Luisi were endorsed.  For Alternate positions on P & Z, Sam Todzia and Larry Maggi were endorsed.

For the four year terms on the Zoning Board of Appeals Margo Chase-Wells, Ken Wendt and Joseph Laurenza were endorsed and for the Alternate positon on ZBA Anthony Matterazzo was endorsed.

For RSD #17 Board of Education Shawna Goldfarb, Jennifer Favalora and Peter Sonski won the endorsement.
