(May 31, 2023) — Haddam Land Trust invites you to join a Trails Day Event on Saturday, June 3, 2023, a walk at thePine Brook Preserve, Pine Brook Road, Haddam Neck. Our event begins at 9:00 a.m.
The area was once a major manufacturing center for the entire town of Haddam, and now is just the scattered stone remains of two large dams and the foundations of the old mills that helped to make Haddam a one-time manufacturing center of Connecticut.
The old foundations and broken dams lay almost hidden and undisturbed among the ferns and moss alongside the winding waters of Pine Brook. It is about one mile in length, a relatively easy walk with only one small hill.
Pine Brook Road is approximately five miles south of Cobalt on Route 151. It is a little over a mile north of the Route 151-Salmon River bridge coming from the south. Follow Route 151 to Pine Brook Road and go to the end of the road.
