(Dec. 2, 2019) — St Peter’s Knights of Columbus Council 14590 presented Xavier High School, Middletown a $500 donation to the school’s general fund.  The gift, and a similar donation to the Wounded Warriors Project, was made possible by proceeds of the Knights’ fourth annual Cars and Clams benefit event held in October.

The Cars and Clams event, as the name implies, featured an impressive array of classic cars from all over New England.  Live music, awards, and raffles accompanied the all-you-can eat clambake and family-style meal provided by the Knights.  The annual event held at St. Peter Church in Higganum not only serves as the Council’s key annual fundraiser but has become a community-wide event benefiting both the Church and select charities.

“It’s a terrific community function that keeps growing in popularity” said Grand Knight Glenn Salamone. “The public is welcome to enjoy great food, classic cars, terrific fellowship and beautiful weather before winter starts closing in.”

This event is designed to bring families and the community together, Salamone stressed.  The day was also a hit with kids who enjoyed the many activities for them including cotton candy, bounce houses and a chance to win bikes, scooters, and many other raffle items.

Xavier High School was selected because of its positive influence in our community.  Not only are several of the Knights alumni but many current students are Haddam residents.

“The values of our organization and the school are closely linked. We hope this contribution assists in Xavier’s mission of educating students who give back to their communities and people in need,” Salamone said.

As this annual event grows in popularity, the St Peter’s Knights of Columbus Council 14590 is committed to recognize and support organizations that positively impact our community.
