Haddam Budget Approved at Town Meeting

(May 24, 2024) — A Town Meeting was held on May 21, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company Community Hall to consider and act upon the annual town budget. The meeting was attended by eighteen taxpayers and addressed the capital budget (which supports various town projects), the annual budget, and two financial reallocations. The following motions were made:

  • Marge DeBold made a motion to consider and vote on the Capital Budget totaling $2,817,385.
  • Wayne Rutty made a motion to consider and vote on the July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025 Annual Budget recommended by the Board of Finance, totaling $38,735,037.
  • Marge DeBold made a motion to consider and vote on the transfer request of $7,090 from the Unallocated line to the generator annex project due to the increase in the cost of the generator.
  • Peter Baird made a motion to consider and vote on the transfer request of $15,000 from the Unallocated line to the Old Town Hall windows project, due to the increase in the cost of the windows.

All the motions and budgets passed, with Tim Teran making a motion to do any and all things legal and necessary to accomplish the purposes and take any other action that may legally and properly come before the meeting. This motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 6:46 p.m.
