The Haddam Killingworth High School Girls Basketball program opened their 2019-2020 season on the road with two wins against Portland (Dec. 18, 2019) and Westbrook (Dec. 20, 2019).
Senior captains, Anna Biondi and Belle Carini, totaled 47 of the 89 team points in the two contests. Anna Biondi is averaging 13.5 ppg and 5 steals per game, and 2 assists per game. Belle Carini is averaging 10 ppg and 5 rebounds per game.
Team huddle after Portland win 12/18
Freshman forward, Kaleigh Bodak, had two double-double evenings. Against Portland, she scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Against Westbrook, she scored 10 points and grabbed 13 boards to finish a great Shoreline Conference debut week.
HK will look to Tessa Wills (Jr), Leah Sosnowski (Soph), and Ella McGlynn (Jr) for major minutes throughout the season.
Sophomore guard, Carly Retterg, added 11 points for the Cougars against Portland and another four points against Westbrook.
Coach Scott Medeiros returns for his sixth season at the helm of the Cougar Basketball program, and HKGBBÂ is 2-0 going into the holiday break.
HK Girls Basketball returns to action on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Bacon Academy. Their first home games will be Thursday, January 2, 2020 against Morgan and Saturday, January 4, 2020 against East Hampton.
