(February 11, 2023) — In response to federal funding for free student lunches during the COVID-19 pandemic ending in late 2022, I joined my colleagues in support of providing free breakfasts and lunches for students throughout Connecticut for the rest of the current school year. The vote involved moving $60 million from the Invest CT program into the Free Meals for Students program to provide free school meals through the end of the 2023 school year. Free meals will be provided to more than 500,000 students in all 169 towns in Connecticut.
