Finding your Intuition

Submitted by Cindy MacNeil Sola

Everyone has intuition. Notice your body’s reactions. It is that gut feeling, a small inner voice. Have you ever heard someone say, “I have a hunch” or “I just knew it” It’s knowing of something without reasoning or proof, when you know something is wrong or right suddenly and the body feels it, this is your intuition calling you it is the most natural part of us and many of us ignore it every day.

I’ve had clients tell me all the time they do not know what intuition feels like or they don’t listen to the “feeling.” Looking back the realization is “I should have listened.” Sometimes we want something so bad but deep down that feeling happens and we KNOW it’s wrong or won’t work. We have sensed this yet we do it anyway only to regret it later and say “well I knew it was the wrong decision.” We ignore all the signs and push the intuition aside.  We get caught up in the logical brain and we have to learn to let the logical brain step aside.

I think that the first time a person recognizes this is when a decision is to be made by “the feeling” they get and they make that decision quickly without thinking about it. It’s important to trust intuition and it’s hard to trust something we cannot see.  Listening gives us insight and power.

Intuition involves picking up vibes from people or situations. We have all done that without thinking about it and a lot of people don’t even realize that this is their intuition. It’s an unwavering inner voice, it’s understanding or realizing something without thinking about it. Learning to trust your intuition is hard. I trust it every day and never question it. Knowing your intuition is so valuable to make the connection to our higher self.

Symbolic dreams are another way our intuition speaks to us as there are messages there. Write down the dream as soon as you wake up (don’t talk to anyone till it’s written down or you’ll forget it). It will remind you to picture the dream in your head. That picture has a story and a lot vivid dreams have significance. If you have the same dream more than once pay attention as there is a message there.

Meditation with controlled breathing will clear the mind and activate positive energy that gives us a higher awareness. It’s vital to have the discipline to practice this every day. If you have a hard time with meditation take a few guided meditation sessions. The more we are connected the more we can read and interpret our intuition.

Play with it, when the phone rings don’t look at the caller ID just focus and connect as to who is calling. Going down the road connect with the car in front of you and ask what driveway or exit they will be taking. Before looking at the clock tell yourself what time it is. Get creative with journaling, walking or painting, get lost in it and let the intuition flow and you will be amazed.

Tapping into your intuition takes practice and won’t happen overnight. It’s important to be diligent with meditation, clearing the mind and give yourself time. When you recognize it and say to yourself “that’s what it is” you will only get stronger and more trusting. I trust my intuition every day and I rely on it very heavily to guide me in the right direction. It has never let me down.
