(May 22, 2024) — Summer will bring some exciting new events and programs from Haddam-Killingworth Youth and Family Services!

The First Annual Summer Solstice Family Fest will take place on June 20, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Parmelee Farm in Killingworth.   The event will feature Family Olympics Games, live bands, food trucks, activities, and more.  HKYFS invites community members of all ages to celebrate the Summer Solstice, as well as National Make Music Day, for an evening of music, food, community, and fun.

Family Olympics is a fun family competition hosted by Empower Leadership, Inc.   The games are suitable for all abilities, ages 5+, and focus on teamwork, communication, laughter, and fun.  HKYFS is committed to the health and wellness of all HK families, including empowering opportunities for positive communication, and developing problem-solving skills that will serve as a protective factor in the future.   All participants will receive a custom medal and will be entered in a raffle for gift cards to local businesses.   In order for us to plan the Games, we ask you to please register your family for this free event by June 8, 2024 by going to www.hkyfs.org/event/

HKYFS and the Haddam-Killingworth Community Coalition remain committed to reducing risky behavior among HK youth and building opportunities for positive connection and safe fun.  Do your tweens and teens complain that there is nothing fun to do, or that they miss their friends during the summer?   Get ready to break free from the indoors this summer!

Teen Trailblazers invites Haddam-Killingworth youth in Grades 7 through 12 to join us for an exciting season of outdoor adventures and weekly field trips. Explore new adventures, hang with friends, and make new friends with engaging activities.  Don’t miss out on a summer of fun and exploration.   You can choose the weeks that work for your schedule.  Trips include Lake Compounce, Dave & Buster’s, Brownstone Park, and more.   Each week is $75 or you can sign up for all 6 for $400. Scholarships are available.

In addition, HK Teens, get ready to ignite your summer at Teen Nights! Join HKYFS on Wednesdays at the Haddam Volunteer Firehouse for the ultimate hangout spot for Haddam-Killingworth High School students. With thrilling activities, epic games, paint night, outdoor movies, and delicious dinners provided,  Teen Nights is the place to be this summer.

For both programs, please register at www.hkyfs.org/event or reach out to Kyana at preventioncoordinator@hkyfs.org for more information.   Space is limited so grab your friends and sign up today.
