Cross Country 2018: HKHS at Shoreline Large School Meet in Clinton

On Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, the Haddam Killingworth High School boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Indian River Complex in Clinton and opened up their dual meet season at the Shoreline Large School meet against Coginchaug, Cromwell, North Branford, Valley Regional and Morgan.  Both teams went undefeated on the afternoon to begin their season with a 5-0 record.
Start of the Boys race

The boys team ran as a pack towards the front of the race and had 8 runners finish in places 3-10 in the same time of 19:05 for the muddy 3.1 mile course.  The following boys crossed the line together: Henry Sodergren, Kyle Criscuolo, Seth Freeman, Matt Jennings, Nate Carlson, Fisher Harris, Dakota Tucker and Greyson Merola.  The boys team defeated Coginchaug 15-50, Cromwell 20-43, Morgan 15-50, North Branford 15-50 and Valley 20-43.

The girls team competing without several of their top runners also ran as a pack towards the front of the girls race and had five girls cross the line in the same time of 24:29 for the 5,000 meter course.  Sadie Strom, Emma Anziano, Meara Bodak, Ali Twachtman and Kylie Studzinski all finished together and were followed closely by Kathy Melgar and Michaela Flaherty.  The girls team defeated Coginchaug 20-43, Cromwell 15-50, Morgan 15-50, North Branford 15-50 and Valley 20-43.

The teams will next be in action on Tuesday as they travel to Totoket Park in North Branford to compete in the Floyd Parness Invitational.
