Connecticut Water Leads Killingworth Hike June 3rd

(May 3, 2023) — Connecticut Water will lead a hike on its watershed property in Killingworth as part of Connecticut Trails Day on June 3, 2023. The hike is part of a larger National Trails Day celebration. In Connecticut, hikes are coordinated through the Connecticut Forest & Park Association which, together with hike sponsors, runs the largest National Trails Day celebration in the country.

Saturday, June 3, 2023 10:00 a.m. This hike features a new 1.5 mile loop in the Killingworth and Kelseytown Reservoir watershed area, which includes some minor hills and will cross the Menunketesuck River footbridge.  The new loop trail continues north past Pete’s Pond to the west bordering the Cockaponset State Forest. Meet at the Platt Nature Center located at 344 Roast Meat Hill Road. If the weather is questionable, updated information on the hike will be posted to ctwater.com. The rain date for this hike is Sunday, June 4, 2023.

This hike is appropriate for children and families. Dogs are permitted on the hikes as long as they are leashed. The trails are not considered handicapped accessible. For more info on Connecticut Trails Day, visit ctwoodlands.org.

The Killingworth and Kelseytown Reservoir hiking trail is also an approved DPH recreation program.  The trail is opened for hiking from the third Saturday in April through October 31st.

Connecticut Water is a public water and wastewater utility regulated by the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority that provides water service to more than 350,000 people in 60 Connecticut communities, including Killingworth.
