(January 25, 2023) —The Haddam Cub Scouts will hold their Pinewood Derby on Saturday February 25, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 Noon at Valley Bible Church, 220 Turkey Hill Road in Haddam.
The derby will include an OUTLAW RACE. This is a special open race event where anyone, any age can register to build and race a pinewood car. The cost to register is $10 (before 2/25/23) or $15 on the day of the event. Outlaw cars have some rules, outlined below:
- All vehicles must fit in the length, width, & height box (7” L x 2¾” W x 4” H)
- All vehicles must clear the center guide strip of the track (⅜” H x 1¾” W)
- Vehicles must weight 6.25OZ or less
- All decorations/attachments must be securely affixed
- Transferring dry weights ARE permitted. NO liquid weights allowed
- “Pre-cut” kit vehicles are allowed
- The axles can be machined/polished
- The wheels can be sanded, machined, or changed as long as vehicle has the correct clearances
- No lubricating oil allowed. Only graphite powder
- The vehicle must be freewheeling with NO type of Motors, engines, rocket engines or other propulsion may be used.
