The Honorable Mentshn were busy on the road, touring their album “Kosher Style” in 2020. But just as these mentshn were looking forward to a year packed with gigs, the world had other plans for this Brooklyn kapelye. The inevitable success, fame and fortune that would accompany such a milestone release, alas, wasn’t meant to be. “Stardom was in our grasp,” claimed the band’s trombonist Daniel Blacksberg. “Celebrity and prestige were just around the corner,” cried pianist Carmen Staaf. “Blood, sweat and tears…. for what??,” exclaimed bassist Zoe Guigueno. And while concert appearances were cancelled, and thousands of dollars were lost, it was the sinking morale of the band that hit the hardest. But hope was not lost for these mentshn. It was the music that would revive the creative spirit! In the summer of 2021, the band members reconvened in New Jersey, and recorded what might just be their most recent album to date. Packed with the energy, passion and drive that listeners have come to expect from the Honorable Mentshn, “Early Bird Special” delivers the schmaltz-drenched, hard-hitting Klezmer music that your soul craves, and gets you onto the dance floor.
