Buttonwood Tree Executive Director Anne-Marie McEwen Steps Down

Submitted by Amy Albert, Board of Directors President

(March 25, 2023) — The Buttonwood Tree would like to thank Anne-Marie McEwen for the tireless work, passion, dedication, love, and energy she has given to this organization for 14 years. The Buttonwood Tree would not exist without her, and we are planning an event to allow us and her friends, family and fans to honor, thank and celebrate her. Details to come.

We will not immediately fill the Executive Director position, and transition instead to a reorganization of roles. We will continue to employ Derrik Bosse, and we are currently hiring for a Bookkeeping position.

We’ve also had a Board member resign, Ken Burtis. A longtime supporter of the organization, Ken has been a robust donor, supporter, and we would like to thank him for his years of volunteering.

More recently, there was a flood in our space, the result of an extinguished fire in the apartment above. As it was the second flood in 30 days, we are reviewing with our insurance policy the extent to which floors, carpets and the drywall in the pillar need to be replaced.

As we embark on a new chapter, we would like to again thank Anne-Marie for her tireless efforts to keep the doors open, and for turning the Buttonwood into a renowned and beloved performance space. The entire Board would like to express our gratitude, admiration, and respect for the love and dedication shown to the organization.
