Boys and Girls Track 2022: HKHS Victorious Over Valley and Westbrook

(May 6, 2022)—On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, the Haddam Killingworth High School Boys and Girls track teams hosted their first meets of the season at the Dick Dupuis Track against Valley Regional and Westbrook.  Both the boys and girls teams came away with two victories on the day, as the boys defeated Valley by a score of 117-28 and Westbrook by a score of 104-41 to improve their dual meet season record to 6-0.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: John Panzera, 110 hurdles (17.5) and 300 hurdles (44,2); Alex Lara, 400 (52.6); Andrew Hedges, 1600 (4:45) and 800 (2:12); Aidan Law, 200 (23.2); Caleb Freeman, 3200 (10:42); Jared Frith, pole vault (10’0″) and Kevin White, triple jump (36’3″).  The boys 4×800 and 4×400 relay teams also were victorious on the afternoon.

The H-K Girls team also went 2-0 on the day to improve their dual meet record to 6-0 on the season, as they defeated Valley by a score of 107-43 and beat Westbrook 128-21. Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners:  Brianna Nugent, 100 hurdles (17.2) and 300 hurdles (52.4); Izzy Berardino, 1600 (5:48) and 800 (2:37); Mariella Fulcher, 100 (13.5); Brianna Minervino, 400 (63.6); Keira Sehl-Albert, 3200 (13:47); Jess Timothy, long jump (14′ 6″) and high jump (4′ 10″); Ly-Linh Criscuolo, triple jump (33′ 1″); Scarlett Strom, discus (89′ 11″), shot put (27′ 4″) and javelin (79′ 4″). The HK Girls also swept all three relays with the 4×800, 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams also victorious on the afternoon to contribute to the team’s win.
The track teams will next be in action on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, as they host Hale-Ray and Cromwell at the Dick Dupuis Track.
