Beaver Meadow Road Re-Opens

Submitted by Edward Munster

(December 12, 2022) — After months of work on a culvert project, Beaver Meadow Road is now fully re-opened to traffic. The road, a main artery between Routes 154 and 81, was first closed in April of this year to repair a culvert, the components of which began to arrive in mid-August. Traffic had to be detoured around the site for several months.

The manufacturing of the needed box culverts at United Concrete was delayed because of other projects going on around the state that took Haddam’s place in line at the manufacturer. But once the components were installed, the wing walls that direct the stream into the culvert could be formed and poured and the final grading of the area was able to be done. There had also been a delay in getting a power pole relocated.  Frontier had to move the pole, and Eversource was responsible for moving the power lines.
