(October 21, 2026) — In 2017 and 2018 Gerry Matthews, in partnership with Higganum Vision Group, built four “Little Free Libraries” throughout our town: in Higganum Center near the market, on Route 81 at Dairy Barn, in Tylerville near River Valley Provisions, and one at the Haddam Neck Fire Department.
These “Little Free Libraries” provide free books for children and adults. Brainerd Memorial Library donates books as does the public. It’s a “take a book, leave a book” concept. The Friends of Brainerd Library are asking for help in the repair and maintenance of these treasures.
If you are handy and would like to help, please email roedennis@comcast.net. Once we get our volunteers lined up, a date will be decided. Thank you!
