Congregational Church in Killingworth Presents Fall Learning Series

(August 13, 2026) — The Congregational Church in Killingworth, UCC invites the community to gather, learn, connect and enjoy something new this Fall with its inaugural Fall Learning Series, a collection of free community gatherings, weekly classes and special monthly workshops beginning in September.

Designed to bring people together across generations and interests, the Fall Learning Series offers opportunities to learn something new, meet neighbors and build community in a welcoming, relaxed setting at The Congregational Church in Killingworth. The series begins with several weekly offerings:

Community Coffee — Mondays at 10:00 a.m.
Beginning Monday, September 14, 2026 the church will host Community Coffee, a free weekly gathering sponsored by local civic organizations. There is no registration required and no cost to attend. Community members are invited to simply come to the church hall, enjoy a cup of coffee and spend some time connecting with others.

Yoga for Anxiety with Cynthia Sarris — Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m.
Beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2026 Cynthia Sarris of Talk Therapy & Yoga will lead Yoga for Anxiety, offering participants an opportunity to explore gentle movement, breathing and mindfulness practices in a supportive environment. $25 per person

Learn to Play Mahjong with Sandy Allard — Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m.
Beginning Wednesday, September 9, 2026 Sandy Allard will offer Learn to Play Mahjong, welcoming those who are completely new to the game as well as anyone looking to refresh their skills. It is an opportunity to learn, laugh and connect with others around the table. $40 per person.

In addition to the weekly programs, the Fall Learning Series will feature a special workshop each month:

September Workshop — September 25, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Bounding Beyond Boundaries: Building Community at Any Age
Presented by Emma Dufresne of the Women & Family Life Center (WFLC), this program will explore ways to build meaningful connections and community at every stage of life. FREE

October Workshop — October 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Art Therapy Workshop
Join Briana Benn-Mirandi of Art & Soul Therapy for a creative and engaging art therapy workshop. No artistic experience is necessary—just come ready to explore and create. $40pp

November Workshop — November 20, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. Paint Night with Cindy Stevens
Enjoy a fun and creative evening with local artist Cindy Stevens. Participants will be guided through a painting project in a relaxed, social atmosphere. $40pp

“The Fall Learning Series is really about creating more opportunities for people to come through our doors and connect,” said representatives of The Congregational Church in Killingworth. “You don’t have to be a member of the church to participate. Whether you come for coffee, want to learn Mahjong, try yoga, explore art or simply meet some new people, there is a place for you here.”

The programs are part of the church’s broader effort to serve as a welcoming community gathering place for residents of Killingworth and surrounding towns.
