For the past eight years, I’ve had the privilege to work alongside Governor Ned Lamont in the legislature. Having had an up-close view of his leadership of our state during tumultuous times in the past eight years, I fully support his candidacy for a third term as Governor and encourage you to support him as well.

A decade ago, our state was in dire financial straits. Once Governor Lamont took office, his steady hand at the state’s helm has helped pay down more than $10 billion in pension debt and thoroughly balance our state’s books, putting us in a much-improved position. I’m confident that another Lamont term would spur further progress.

With rapid federal changes from the Trump administration continually impacting our state, we need a leader who will fight back. Lamont has supported legislative efforts to rein in ICE and support the many Connecticut residents who have lost benefits, employment and social supports due to the current administration.

Finally, we can look at the advances our state accomplished in the past eight years to know we’re in a better place than we were. The minimum wage is up more than 50%, paid family medical leave has helped hundreds of thousands of families, and workers and consumers alike have more protections against fraud and abuse. Stability and progress mark the first two Lamont terms, and I’m confident they will remain in a third. I’m confident that Connecticut’s trend of success will continue under Ned Lamont and encourage your support for his third term.

State Sen. Norm Needleman (D) Essex
