(July 21, 2026) — With hurricane and summer storm season underway, Eversource is using a helicopter to conduct routine patrols of electric transmission line rights-of-way as part of its continuing mission to deliver safe, reliable service to customers. Across several communities in southeastern Connecticut, crews will inspect the condition of the high-voltage transmission system to proactively identify and assess any issues that may threaten electric reliability and ensure they’re properly addressed as part of the company’s comprehensive vegetation management program. Eversource works year-round to safeguard the electric grid, and these patrols are a critical part of the energy company’s storm preparedness effort.
Weather permitting, flights are taking place between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. through Monday, July 27, 2026 over Haddam, East Haddam, Chester, Deep River, Essex, and several other towns in Eastern Connecticut. The aircraft being used are a blue and white helicopter (tail #N411DD) and a navy and silver helicopter (tail #N1431W).
