(February 24, 2026) — The Haddam Volunteer Fire Company conducted an ice rescue drill at the Higganum Reservoir last week. As temperatures moderate, as they did last week, it increases the chance of falling through thinning ice for anyone walking on what might have been a frozen river or lake.
These types of drills are done several times a year.
