Area Students Earn Dean’s List Honors at WPI

(June 18, 2025) — A total of 2,331 undergraduate students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute have been named to the university’s Spring 2025 Dean’s List. The criteria for the WPI Dean’s List differ from those of most other universities, as WPI does not compute a grade point average. Instead, WPI students are named to the Dean’s List based on the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and hands-on projects.

“WPI’s academic programs are rigorous and require a level of independence beyond what is required in traditional courses. WPI students work on real-world, open-ended problems on campus and in communities around the globe. Far from being simple academic exercises, the projects students complete have genuine and lasting impacts in our partner communities,” said Provost Andrew Sears.

The following area students have been named to the Dean’s List for Spring 2025:

Kaitlyn Byrum of Killingworth, Class of 2025, majoring in Industrial Engineering

Andrew Conti of Killingworth, Class of 2026, majoring in Mechanical Engineering

Scarlett Strom of Higganum, Class of 2026, majoring in Environmental Engineering

Kristen Thebeau of Haddam, Class of 2027, majoring in Computer Science and Physics

WPI is a top-tier STEM-focused research university and a recognized pioneer and global leader in project-based learning. Founded in 1865 on the principle that students learn most effectively by applying the theory learned in the classroom to the practice of solving real-world problems, WPI’s continued mission is to transform lives, turn knowledge into action to confront global challenges, and revolutionize STEM through distinctive and inclusive education, projects, and research.
