In recent discussions and letters to the editor in support of my political opponent, I’ve noticed a concerning pattern: the issue of abortion is being used to misrepresent me, and distract from the pressing issues we face in this district. Let me set the record straight: Connecticut’s laws on reproductive health, including access to abortion services, are clear, well-established and have been codified in state law since 1990. The recent Supreme Court rulings made at the federal level do not impact these protections. I respect our state’s approach to reproductive healthcare, which ensures that women have access to comprehensive services, including abortion and fertility care.
I understand that abortion is a deeply personal, emotional and moral issue. It is precisely because of this that I believe such decisions should be made between a woman and her doctor. As your State Representative, I will not seek to change or challenge the well-established protections in place in our State. I will advocate for policies that improve access to all aspects of women’s healthcare: reproductive rights, maternal health, and preventive care.
At the same time, it’s important to address the pressing concerns of our district. While some attempt to stir fear on an issue that has been settled in our State for over 30 years, the people I’ve spoken to across the district are primarily concerned with the rising cost of living, exorbitant energy costs, and ensuring economic stability and safety for their families. They have asked me to focus on these issues.
Connecticut is one of the most expensive states to live in, with some of the highest taxes in the country. We need leadership focused on tackling this affordability crisis, reducing costs for residents, and creating real opportunities for our families to thrive. Voters deserve representatives who will address these challenges head-on, not create distractions.
In my 30 years of business experience, I’ve held leadership roles at Fortune 100 companies, overseeing budgets up to $60 million, negotiating complex contracts, and delivering results in high-pressure environments. My academic background, including an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, equipped me with the financial expertise and problem-solving skills necessary to manage resources efficiently and bring effective solutions to the table. As a Selectwoman in Deep River, I have worked directly with our community, managing town budgets and collaborating with local leaders to solve the pressing challenges we face.
I am committed to protecting what people across our four towns have told me matters most: your economic stability, the safety of our communities, and protecting our natural environment.
This November, put aside the distractions and choose the candidate who will work tirelessly to make Connecticut more affordable and safe for everyone.
