The campaign season is now in full swing. Naturally, the national presidential campaign garners a lot of attention.  News and TV coverage are constant, and the dialog is often raucous.  Some area residents may tune out and be dissuaded from voting.

Kathryn Russell, the Republican candidate for the 36th District, (Chester, Deep River, Essex, Haddam) asks area residents to remember the importance of local and state issues in November.

Kathryn Russell is a fiscal conservative with excellent experience in business, community service and local office.  She will use her financial skills and experience to weed out unnecessary government spending on key proposals.   She will also be vigilant for the unfunded mandates often imposed by the state onto local towns which drive up taxes on the local level or otherwise increase costs to residents.

Recently, Connecticut residents were shocked to learn how government policies for electric vehicles increased their electric bills.  Politicians did not advise them about the full costs of the programs they implemented.  Kathryn Russell will put the “NO” vote on these types hidden program costs.

For too long, majority party politicians have created programs that have driven up the cost of government with limited benefits. More expensive government is not always better. Kathryn will work to carefully control government spending and ensure accountability, so programs achieve the objectives promised to voters.

Kathryn Russell, a long time Deep River resident, appreciates the quality of life we enjoy in the lower Connecticut River Valley.   She recognizes that public programs maintain that quality of life and that we must preserve the beautiful natural character of the region.

So, don’t let the national noise keep you from voting for more efficient, cost-effective state government. That means voting for Kathryn Russell.
