(February 20, 2024) — The Haddam Garden Club will welcome local naturalist John Himmelman on March 13, 2024, for a program entitled “Moths: Nighttime Jewels in Your Own Backyard.”
Himmelman is an author, illustrator, naturalist, and popular lecturer. He is a co-founder and president of the Connecticut Butterfly Association and has served as past president of the New Haven Bird Club, The Nature Connection and the Killingworth Land Trust
In his presentation, Himmelman will explain the intricacy of moths’ life cycles, their importance in nature and pollination, and how only a tiny handful of the many moth species are truly pests to humans.
The program will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Haddam Fire House, 439 Saybrook Road, Higganum. $10 Advance Purchase.
