Boys Track/Girls Track 2024: HKHS Teams Earn Wins Against Lyme-Old Lyme and Westbrook

(May 1, 2024) — The Haddam Killingworth High School Boys and Girls track teams hosted a tri-meet on April 30, 2024 at the Richard Dupuis Track and each came away with victories against Lyme-Old Lyme and Westbrook.

The Boys team defeated Westbrook by a score of 141-6, and Lyme-Old Lyme by a score of 102-47, to improve their dual meet season record to 6-0.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Daniel McCourt 800 (2:04), Jack Cozean 1600 (4:47), Luke Hedges 3200 (10:31), Eli Hamann-Shay 400 (54.0), Dylan Churyk 110 hurdles (20.5), Trevor Dixon javelin (136’6″), Luke Staskelunas triple jump (38’4″), Mitchell Kelsey discus (125’3″), Tetsua Imai high jump (5’2″), Ryan Ruggiero pole vault (11’0″).  The Boys team also swept all three relays, winning the 4×800, 4×100 and 4×400.

The H-K Girls team went 2-0 on the day as they defeated Lyme-Old Lyme by a score of 78-64, and beat Westbrook by a score of 91-45, to improve to 5-1 in dual meets this season.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Adriana Garoppolo 200 (28.3), Charlotte Behnke 3200 (13:57), Jayani Bennett 100 hurdles (17.7), Delaney Aronson 300 hurdles (54.2) and Margaret Robinson javelin (76’5″). The Girls 4×800 relay team was also victorious on the afternoon to contribute team points.

 

The track teams will next be in action on May 7, 2024 as they travel to Clinton to compete in a tri-meet against Morgan and Valley Regional.
