(November 3, 2026) — HKTV students from Haddam Killingworth High School are excited to announce that the HK Little League Challenger Division has been selected as the beneficiary of the 2026 HKHS 38th Annual Holiday Telethon. This cherished community tradition brings together students, families and local residents to celebrate the spirit of giving while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
The HK Little League Challenger Division provides adaptive baseball for children and young adults with physical and intellectual disabilities, giving athletes of all abilities the opportunity to experience the joy of baseball in a supportive, inclusive environment. With the help of volunteer “buddies,” players build friendships, gain confidence, develop skills and experience the excitement of being part of a team.
Lauren Perley, Director of the HK Little League Challenger Division, has recognized a growing need to strengthen and expand the program to ensure it continues to thrive. Her vision extends beyond the game of baseball, but instead focuses on creating an environment where every athlete feels valued, supported and included.
For many Challenger athletes, stepping onto a baseball field can present challenges that other players may never experience. Under Perley’s leadership, the division hopes to remove these barriers by developing a safer, more accessible playing field while expanding opportunities for team travel, special events and tournaments. Every donation to the HK Little League Challenger Division helps create an environment where athletes of all abilities can experience greater independence, inclusion, and the joy of the game.

Each year, HKTV students dedicate months to producing this live, three-hour broadcast featuring entertainment, special guests, and heartfelt stories. This year’s show will highlight the inspiring experiences of Challenger athletes, their families, and the volunteers who help make the division possible. Through their storytelling, students hope to show the community that this effort is about more than improving a baseball field. It’s about creating opportunities, building confidence, and ensuring every athlete has a place to belong.
