(October 8, 2026) — The Essex Film Festival returns November 6, 2026 and November 7, 2026 at Centerbrook Architects for its second year, featuring Guest Filmmaker Scott Macaulay. In addition to in-depth conversations with Macaulay, the festival includes four must-see films, an opening reception and a producing master class. The full line-up of films includes: What Happened Was…, Raising Victor Vargas, The Assistant, and Gummo. Macaulay is an independent film producer, writer, and the co-founder and former editor-in-chief of Filmmaker magazine, one of the leading publications covering independent cinema. As a producer, he has helped bring numerous acclaimed independent features to the screen. Macaulay also has served as a juror, moderator, and speaker at film festivals around the world.
The producing master class, led by Macaulay on November 7th, will be a one-hour workshop for filmmakers, writers and anyone curious about the art, craft and business of producing independent film.
