(September 30, 2026) — On September 30, 2026, the Haddam-Killingworth High School Boys Soccer team went up against a formidable team from Middletown. The first half saw Middletown making many attacks on the HKHS side of the field, but in the 36th minute, Finn Macauley notched the Cougars’ first goal on a pass from Stratti Dhembi.
A stingy HKHS defense held Middletown scoreless for the rest of the half. It was much the same in the second half until Middletown managed to get a goal midway through the period. Now tied 1-1, the Cougars put relentless pressure on their opponent, finally being rewarded with a goal by Alex Wiese on a corner kick from Stratti in the 68th minute. Shortly thereafter, Tristen Edwards put the nail in the coffin with a great goal on a breakaway.
Although the entire defense worked together to hold off Middletown, special recognition goes to Nolan (The Eraser) Sheppard, who was tasked with marking Middletown’s All-State forward, keeping him scoreless. Keeper Oskar Heikkila also contributed to the victory with several outstanding saves.
The team’s next game is on October 1, 2026 at home against Lyme-Old Lyme.
