(September 23, 2026) — Community members, families, friends and neighbors are invited to take part in the upcoming CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, October 4, 2026. at 12:30 p.m. at Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth.
The CROP Hunger Walk brings the community together for a simple but important purpose: helping people who face hunger both close to home and around the world. Participants can join the walk, support a walker, or make a donation to help provide food and other essential resources to people in need.
This year, 25% of the funds raised locally will remain in the community, supporting Helping Hands Food Pantry, the HK Backpack Program, and Haddam Food Bank. The remaining 75% will support worldwide hunger-relief efforts, including programs that address hunger, access to clean water, and the long-term resilience of communities.
The local walk joins the efforts of the United Congregational Church of Haddam and Higganum and others who are coming together to make a difference—one step at a time. “CROP Hunger Walk is an opportunity for our neighbors to come together around a cause that touches communities everywhere,” organizers said. “Every walker and every donation can help put food on a table and bring hope to someone who needs it.”
The event is open to the community, and participants are encouraged to bring friends and family. Whether walking, donating or helping spread the word, everyone can play a role.
