The Boys soccer team had a great bounce-back win over a tough Stonington team, winning 2-1. The Cougars showed great effort and spirit right off the start, winning 50:50 balls and pressing the attack. An obvious change for the team’s roster was Nolan Sheppard starting at forward instead of his usual center back position. The move paid immediate dividends in the 13th minute as Nolan broke through the defense to put HK on the board first. But HK continued to press forward, and in the 32nd minute Nolan once again fought through the defense only to be tripped in the box, earning a penalty kick for his team. Captain Tristin Edwards calmly put our 2nd goal in the back of the net. Nolan actually scored again from a nice pass from Jonathan Cavrell, but it was called back due to a questionable off sides call. The second half was more of the same, but Stonington was making several more dangerous attacks. Unfortunately, in the 55th minute, Stonington managed to put in their first and only goal. It was a hard-earned victory that displayed consistent passing and excellent effort. Well done lads!
