(September 21, 2026) — The Haddam-Killingworth High School Boys Soccer team started this season on fire as they won their first three games with a total score of 16-1. Passing was good, defense was solid, and goalkeeping was superb. Unfortunately, they hit a wall, losing to Cromwell on September 19, 2026 by a final score of 4-0.
The day was hot, several players were cramping, and the team was just not performing well enough. The very next day, they traveled to Canton for another tough game. The team, however, did play much better than the day before and had many close calls on scoring opportunities. But Canton managed a lucky goal from a corner cross that dropped over the keeper’s reach in the 11th minute.
HKHS continued to play hard but finished the half down 1-0. Thirteen minutes into the second half, a Canton forward managed to sneak through the Cougars defense and was all alone on the keeper, putting in their second goal. To their credit, the HKHS team did not give up, but continued to press forward, getting many scoring attempts. Finally, in the 68th minute, on another push down the field, Strati Dhembi made a nice pass to Nolan Sheppard in front of the goal, and he then dropped a beautiful pass to Tristin Edwards, who skillfully placed the ball in the back of the net. It was great to see the effort the team displayed in the game.
The next game will be at home against Stonington on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
