(September 19, 2026 ) — The Haddam-Killingworth High School Football team beat Oxford High School by a final score of 26-7 on September 18, 2026. Evan Garcia intercepted a pass in the end zone on the last play of the first half and returned it 100 yards to give HKHS a 12-7 lead heading into the break. Garcia also scored touchdowns on a 30-yard pass from Tim Hickman and on a three-yard run to lead the Cougars. Jon Slane finished the scoring with a six-yard run in the fourth quarter that sealed the game for HKHS.
The victory represented the first-ever Alliance game for the Cougars from the Pequot Conference over the Wolverines of Oxford from the Naugatuck Valley League. “It was exciting to beat a team from out of conference in the regular season. We’re proud to represent Pequot Conference football,” said HKHS Head Coach Tyler Wilcox. “Still, we made too many mistakes before we picked it up in the second half. We’re a young team, so that’s to be expected to a point. But we need to clean up our efforts.”
The team takes to the field again when it travels to North Branford on Friday, September 25, 2026 for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
