(September 17, 2026) — In their second game of the season, the Haddam-Killingworth High School Boys soccer team mixed it up pretty good with a recent three-time state championship Old Saybrook team on September 11, 2026. The game was fast and very physical, with both teams pressing hard, but HKHS won it by a final score of 2-1.
Tristin Edwards got the Cougars on the board with a great free kick early in the first half. It remained close for most of the first half, until Strati Dhembi put in their second goal with four minutes left in the half. The second was more of the same with the HKHS defense thwarting many Old Saybrook attacks and the Cougars also having several more chances to score. Old Saybrook did manage to put one final goal past the HK keeper in the 82nd minute, but it wasn’t enough. The Cougars had a hard-fought win to celebrate. The home crowd was large and very supportive, especially with the constant cheering from the HKHS Football team, who also attended the game.
