Higganum Man Publishes New Book, “Forgiveness for Change”

(September 2, 2026) — Anthony Keven Keane of Higganum has turned deeply personal experiences of trauma, abandonment, abuse, rejection, and recovery into a message of hope in his new book, “Forgiveness for Change: How Letting Go Can Transform Your Life from Trauma to Triumph!”  In the book, which was a 2026 ICBA Book Award winner, Keane combines a memoir with Christian personal growth, and examines how painful experiences can continue shaping identity long after the events themselves have passed. His central message is that forgiveness does not excuse what happened or erase its consequences. Instead, he presents it as a way to release the hold of past pain and begin moving toward a different future.

In Forgiveness for Change, Keane recounts a childhood affected by domestic violence, fear, emotional wounds, and an unstable relationship with his father, whom he describes as struggling with alcoholism and paranoid schizophrenia. The opening chapter confronts some of his earliest traumatic memories, including incidents in which Keane says his father endangered his life. Those experiences contributed to years of anger, betrayal, self-doubt, and difficult patterns that followed him into adulthood. Keane writes that eventually forgiving his father became an important part of finding greater peace, demonstrating the distinction he draws between acknowledging serious harm and refusing to remain permanently controlled by it.

The inspiration for Forgiveness for Change grew from Keane’s desire to reach people who recognize parts of their own struggles in his story. He writes for those who may believe their past circumstances, failures, addictions, damaged relationships, or diminished sense of worth have left them unable to move forward. Rather than presenting his experiences only as a record of hardship, Keane pairs them with biblical wisdom, personal reflection, and the actions he says helped him change direction. Forgiveness becomes both the central theme and a practical discipline through which he examines identity, responsibility, faith, and the possibility of breaking destructive cycles.

For readers carrying unresolved anger, resentment, regret, family pain, or difficult memories, Keane’s book offers encouragement grounded in Keane’s lived experience and Christian faith. The book also addresses self-forgiveness and the challenge of recognizing patterns that may keep a person connected to earlier wounds. Keane does not position forgiveness as an instant solution to trauma. Instead, he describes change as requiring consistent choices and continued action.

Keane presents Forgiveness for Change as more than a memoir about surviving adversity. By sharing both painful events and the steps he took toward greater freedom, he seeks to offer readers a practical and faith-centered perspective on moving beyond the experiences that have shaped them. His story ultimately emphasizes hope without denying hardship, encouraging readers to believe that the past does not have to dictate what comes next. Through forgiveness, reflection, faith, and deliberate action, Keane argues that people can begin loosening the grip of yesterday and creating room for peace, renewed purpose, and meaningful change.
