Haddam Announces Tire Recycling Program

Submitted by Kristin Battistoni

(August 7, 2026) — The Town of Haddam now participates in the “Roll, Recycle, Renew” program administered by the Connecticut Tire Stewardship, a non-profit organization. Established following Connecticut’s 2023 tire stewardship law, the program requires participating tire manufacturers to fund the collecting and recycling of eligible tires.

Why participate? Proper tire recycling helps prevent illegal dumping, fire hazards, mosquito breeding, environmental contamination, and costly cleanup efforts for municipalities.

Accepted tires: Passenger vehicles, light and heavy-duty trucks, commercial vehicles, buses, motorcycles, lawn and garden tractors, golf carts, ATVs, and off-road vehicles, including tires mounted on rims.

Not accepted: Tires from commercial aircraft, mobility devices, or toys.

What happens to recycled tires? Collected tires are repurposed into products such as tire-derived aggregate, rubber mats, trash containers, automotive components, and flooring materials.

Cost: Free for Haddam residents with a current Transfer Station Pass. If you do not have a pass, contact the Haddam Department of Public Works at 860-345-2110. For more information on the “Roll, Recycle Renew” program, visit the website recycletiresct.com.
